Book review: The girlfriend by Michelle Frances #bookreview #amreading #thriller

A debut novel published May 2017. The story focuses on Laura, a well off tv executive who lives in a des-res in London & mother to eligible bachelor, Daniel. After losing her own daughter, Laura is initially thrilled when Daniel brings home Cherry, an attractive estate agent he quickly becomes smitten with. However it soon becomes apparent that all is not as it seems. Cherry’s behaviour becomes more and more erratic- as may be predicted. What I didn’t expect was the constant niggling feeling that whilst Cherry was undoubtedly a bad egg, Laura’s behaviour was also increasingly questionable. As a result, I never felt really enamoured by any of the characters, I just became increasingly suspicious of them.

I read this book quite quickly as I was always wondering what was going on behind the scenes. Whilst I wouldn’t say this was brilliant, I felt that it was a solid debut & would recommend it to other readers. I look forward to other offerings from this author.
